Mazda RX-500
This image was created for the last CGI automotive rendering contest.
Sometimes, 'less is more'.
So for this one, I wanted to keep it simple with a classic studio lighting but with a special touch: the light trails.
The Mazda RX-500 is a prototype from 1970 with this particular design, a retrofuturistic look. It could easily fit in a sci-fi project with this rear and all those tail lights (including green ones). So I wanted to focus on this particular part. There was something to do with it.
With this in mind, the idea of the light trails came up instantly.

Remove the wheels and you end up with a spaceship!
The light trails give a feeling of motion. Added to an exaggerated perspective and it brings dynamism to a static car.

What's interesting with this kind of contest is that you have carte blanche. You are free to come up with your own idea.
Here I wanted a modern render with a vibe from the past that is at a crossroads between real and surreal.
